Zaza Gagua ("Vino Martville")

In 2015, Zaza Gagua and his wife Keto Ninidze decided to leave Tbilisi and to move with their two daughters to the small Megrelian town Martvili, where in the 1930s Zaza's great-grandfather had built a traditional wooden house with a terrace on all sides. It is not far from the enchanting Martvili Canyon, through which the crystal-clear Abasha River winds. By the way, Zaza is the director of this nationwide famous national park. Since 2017, he has been offering wine tourism, hosting guests who are interested in winemaking and rare natural wines. What is also fascinating about Zaza's and Keto's story is that they both make wine, but each cultivates his or her own vineyard, each with different vines and two individual brands: on Zazas bottles stands Vino Martville, a frenchified name variant of the Martvili region.
